‘The Galician Way’, a trademark to raise the profile of Galician culture abroad
The Department of Culture of Galicia’s Autonomous Government aims to make Galician culture the principal channel for raising the community’s profile around the world. The major drive within the department headed by Anxela Bugallo during this legislation to promote our culture and artists abroad will be further enhanced by the launch of ‘The Galician Way’, an umbrella trademark for Galician music, literature, dramatic and visual arts and the audiovisual sector.

Spreading Galician music abroad
Galiza was one of the protagonists at Womex ’08, the International World Music Festival. Galiza was designated a "focus country" and set up a stand with 17 companies and two associations from the cultural sector, and celebrated the "Galician focus night" with the performances from Xosé Manuel Budiño, Narf and Mutenrohi.

Galicia at "Atlantic Waves" festival
By first time in its history, Galiza was represented at "Atlantic Waves " music festival, the showcase for Portuguese and Brazilian folk music in the UK. After 14 years, this international event, organized by the Gulbenkian Foundation, invited Galician artists to play their creations and share the stage with Portuguese and Brazilian players.

Galicia will attend Womex for the second year in a row. However, this time will be different, since GalicianTunes is labeled 'Special Focus' at the Sevillian fair.
